At 106, Sister Cecilia backs Obama (from Rome)

Sister Cecilia Gaudette is an American Nun who has lived in Rome for 50 years and hasn’t voted in the American election for over 50 years, has decided this year to register to vote from Rome.  She has decided to vote for Obama becasue according to her “he seems to be a good man with a good private life”.  Now there’s a reason if ever to vote for someone?!

What else is quite interesting is that even though she is keen to vote for the first time since 1952 – and she’s made it clear she is voting for Obama – she has no intention of returning to the USA…Sounds like a case of twisted sister to me…

The Land of the Free – with rules of course

Today in the news of the strange, it seems there are rules surrounding how “free” your speech is in the United States of America.  In the days coming up to the election you find yard signs in people’s front gardens showing their support for who they feel is the apt candidate for – in this case – the white house.  Ut oh, wait, there’s a catch.  You can only put the sign up 30 days prior to the election – October 4th. So, therefore those people who might have yard signs out already, better take them down until the 4th otherwise you’re breaking the law!  So much for freedom of speech…
